Thanks! I have a Seagate Freeagent 1TB drive and after upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10, it would no longer spin down on its own after my backup script unmounted it. Your instructions worked great for me.

In Settings > Music Settings, the output frequency must be 48k for PCM streaming to work.

An updated version of DVDAExplorer is now available, which means you don’t have to do the first two steps. It also allows automatic FLAC encoding, and selecting more than one track!
