Just when you thought that using fear of terrorism couldn’t get any worse, children are now being taught about the dangers of terrorism. Alongside how to save people from drowning, making sure your house doesn’t burn down, and not trusting strangers, children are now taught to look out for extremist views… What next?

After all the excitement and brilliance of the first race of the season, Formula 1 is in tatters and keeps changing it’s mind over the results of the race. I do love F1, but hate the bollocks surrounding it – appeals, court hearings, yadeyadeya. So here’s my plan to reform the system to put a stop to the bullshit:
- Instead of amatuer stewards, have professional ones which are the same in every race. They could be democratically elected by the teams. This would reduce stupid, inconsistant rulings. I’d much rather have someone like Jackie Stuart or Martin Brundle making decisions than some random volunteer.
- There should be a deadline for complaints to me made, 5 mins after the race ends. False complaints should be met by grid demotions in the next race, to prevent people complaining ‘just in case’. A decision should be made within 10 mins, so that the podium ceremony can have the actual winners standing there. It takes a rugby TV referee only a minute or two to make a decision… why does it take F1 stewards nearly a week?
- All drivers and team officials should have to take a test on the rules before being allowed to race. The amount of confusion is ridiculous. Even Massa didn’t understand the safety car rules in Australia.
- Stop all radio comms between the cars and the pits. It’s not needed when the drivers know the rules.
- Use of KERS should be banned until all the cars have them. It’s not fair to the smaller teams.
- Car designs should be analysed by a team of independent engineers who can judge whether they’re legal or not. Much better than letting a court decide.
- No appeals should be allowed… just deal with it and move on!
There ya go Mr. Ecclestone. No need to thank me.
