I am a research engineer working at BBC Research and Development in London, where I am part of the Production Magic team. My research interests are mainly based around audio technology such as spatial audio, music information retrieval, audio codec evaluation and artificial bandwidth extension of speech. I have also done some work in video quality analysis and systems architecture. My current research involves trying to get a computer to learn what different styles and moods of music sound like, in order to make it easier for sound supervisors and producers to find the kind of music they’re looking for.
